Wat hield ons bezig in 1986;

Binnenland:  De spoorlijn Amsterdam Centraal-Amsterdam Sloterdijk-Schiphol wordt geopend. De spoorlijn Nieuwersluis-Uithoorn wordt gesloten. Het is het laatste restant van de Haarlemmermeerspoorlijnen. Uniek punt in de lijn was de overweg in de A2.

Buitenland:  Het 27ste Sovjet-partijcongres, waarop Gorbatsjovs positie als partijleider versterkt wordt, loopt ten einde. Wel stelt de Russische partijleider Michail Gorbatsjov stelt het Westen voor om de conventionale wapens en strijdkrachten in Europa, “van de Atlantische Oceaan tot de Oeral”, te beperken.

Sport:  Meesterknecht Greg LeMond uit de Verenigde Staten verslaat zijn Franse kopman Bernard Hinault en wint voor de eerste keer de Ronde van Frankrijk.
