Soulshow van 8 maart 1984

Deze Soulshow is uitgezonden op donderdag  8 maart 1984 bij de Tros op Hilversum 3,  met daarin o.a.:

• The Commodores met Turn Off The Light is eindelijk op single uit in Nederland. Waarschijnlijk heeft de platenmaatschappij naar Ferry geluisterd. 
• We hebben weer een primeur in de Soulshow. Dit keer de nieuwe van Master Genius.
• Twee nieuwe binnenkomers in de Disco Action Top 20. De eerste nieuwe vinden we op nummer 18; Break Machine – Street Dance.
• Ferry laat weer zo’n vette Amerikaanse commercial van Motown Records en Cassettes over de nieuwe LP van de Voice of the Temptations, “growing out of one legend, and into his own” the Tempting Debut Solo Album of Dennis Edwards – Don’t Look Any Further. Later hoor je nog een commercial, maar dan voor Lionel Ritchie, in het tweede uur.
• De nieuwe van Spargo krijg je vanavond in de Soulshow te horen. Met zanger Ellert Driessen………….. zonder zangeres!

Wat hield ons bezig in 1984;

Binnenland: In de nachtelijke uren worden in Nederland drie Noordelijke provincies, Overijssel en delen van Gelderland getroffen door een grote stroomstoring die tweeënhalf uur aanhoudt. Oorzaak van de storing is het ontploffen van een transformator in een koppelstation in Ens. Op diverse plaatsen worden winkels geplunderd.

Buitenland: Groot-Brittannië en de Volksrepubliek China komen overeen dat Hongkong per 1 juli 1997 zal worden overgedragen aan China. Groot-Brittannië houdt het gebied nog in pacht tot 30 juni 1997.

Sport: Begin van de Olympische Winterspelen in het Joegoslavische Sarajevo, de eerste keer dat ze in een Oostblokland worden gehouden.
