Wat hield ons bezig in 1986;

Binnenland:  De spoorlijn Nieuwersluis-Uithoorn wordt gesloten. Het is het laatste restant van de Haarlemmermeerspoorlijnen. Uniek punt in de lijn was de overweg in de A2.

Buitenland:  In Caïro bepaalt het gerechtshof dat Vertellingen uit duizend-en-één-nacht tot de klassieke literatuur behoort. Het verbod wordt opgeheven.

Sport:   Nelli Cooman behaalt bij de Europese indoorkampioenschappen in Madrid een wereldrecord op de 60 meter: 7 seconden rond. In augustus wordt zij ook Europees buitenkampioene op de 100 meter, in een Nederlands record van 11,08 seconden.
