Binnenland:   Freddy Heineken wordt, samen met zijn chauffeur Ab Doderer, ontvoerd. Ze verlieten net zijn kantoor aan het Weteringplantsoen in Amsterdam toen ze werden meegenomen door vijf mannen (Cor van Hout, Willem Holleeder, Frans Meijer, Jan Boellaarden Martin Erkamps).

Buitenland: De “Bende van Nijvel” overvalt de winkel Colruyt in het Belgische Nijvel. Resultaat zijn 3 doden (1 agent en het koppel Fourez-Dewit)..

Sport:  Het team van de Sovjet-Unie wint in West-Duitsland voor de vijfde keer op rij het wereldkampioenschap ijshockey.
