Binnenland: De achtbaan Python (Efteling) wordt geopend.

Buitenland: Het ruimteveer Columbia is de eerste Spaceshuttle die in een baan rond de aarde vliegt.

Sport:  In het Olympisch Stadion wint AZ’67 de KNVB-beker door Ajax met 3-1 te verslaan. Hiermee veroveren de Alkmaarders voor het eerst, en tot op heden voor de enige maal, de dubbel.
