Binnenland: Het Nederlands Openluchtmuseum in Arnhem stelt zijn deuren gratis open in een poging het museum voor sluiting te behoeden.

Buitenland: Een camping in Le Grand-Bornand wordt tijdens noodweer overspoeld door de buiten haar oevers getreden rivier Borne. 23 mensen komen om het leven.

Sport: Egbert Streuer en Bernard Schnieders winnen de zijspanklasse van de TT Assen.
