Wat hield ons bezig in 1982;

Binnenland: Het Kabinet-Van Agt II valt, nadat de PvdA-ministers het oneens blijven met de bezuinigingen voor 1983. CDA en D’66 gaan in een interim-kabinet Van Agt door tot de nieuwe verkiezingen van 8 september 1982.

Buitenland: Ernstige onlusten zijn het gevolg van te geringe loonsverhogingen in de goudmijnen van Zuid-Afrika. Minstens zeven zwarte arbeiders worden gedood door de politie, die de stakers met traangas en vuurwapens te lijf gaat. Er volgt ontslag voor circa 2000 mijnwerkers.

Sport:  Bettine Vriesekoop wint in Boedapest het Europees kampioenschap tafeltennis. Later behaalt ze op het Top Twaalf-toernooi zowel goud in het enkelspel als in het gemengd dubbel, samen met de Pool Andrzej Grubba, en wordt ze in het damesdubbel tweede, met Sandra de Kruiff.
