Wat hield ons bezig in 1978;

Binnenland: 13 maart; Begin van de gijzeling in het provinciehuis in Assen door drie Zuid-Molukse jongeren; planoloog Ko de Groot wordt doodgeschoten. 14 maart; Leden van de Bijzondere Bijstands Eenheid (BBE) bestormen het provinciehuis in Assen, waarmee aan de gijzeling een einde komt. Gedeputeerde J. Trip raakt gewond en zal enkele weken later aan die verwondingen overlijden.

Buitenland: Op de Spaanse camping Los Alfaques te Sant Carles de la Ràpita raakt een met vloeibaar gas gevulde tankauto van de weg en ontploft op een camping met als gevolg meer dan tweehonderd doden, onder wie 10 Nederlanders en 36 Belgen.

Sport / Muziek: Voor het eerst wordt in De Kuip een popconcert gehouden. Ruim 50.000 fans zijn getuige van het optreden van Bob Dylan, die zijn eerste Europese tournee maakt.
